inspiration.

I know dipping jars in paint is big right now, but I didn't think of doing baby food jars. Until I saw this blog, and I knew they would be perfect for the center piece at Leighton's 1st birthday. Yes it's down to the wire, and I've been working like mad making pinwheels and such. Here's the center piece.

the process.

this whole project was free, and that was an added bonus. I used furniture paint I had, and scrap paper, and twine from other projects. I am going to use the flowers blooming in my yard right now to fill them. I can't believe it's been a year, look how big she's getting.

I just think she so cute!

About This Blog-

This blog is mostly about Leighton, and how she has changed our family. We were blessed with our little Leighton in 2011. We didn't know she had a little something extra before her birth. She was born with an extra 21st chromosome. We didn't know it at the time, but she was going to change our lives as most babies do, for the better. This is just a day to day of what life is like having a daughter, or sibling with Down syndrome. It's truthfully in essence the same, if not better as our life before we had her. We do the same things, but some how she makes us better, and happier people. She has become the center of our family. We heard about a boy in college who also had Trisomy 21 wearing a shirt that said High on Chromosomes, and I decided that's what I want Leighton to feel. So I named her blog after that shirt. I want her to feel an extra chromosome is nothing to be ashamed of (it's something she can't change, and you may not believe it, but I wouldn't want that anyway). It's always going to be a part of her. I want her to be proud of it.
